Closed Circuit Television Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Closed Circuit Television - Essay Example But generally speaking the number of staff to monitor the whereabouts of the children would go down. If properly equipped advanced CCTV technology is used, facial recognition and the use of multiple cameras at once can cut down on time to locate a specific child when his or her caregivers come to pick them up. Different colored badges for the children can also be used to readily distinguish between boys and girls. DISADVANTAGES The presence of CCTV does not mean that the daycare administration can relax by turning over the task of safety and security to a system. Rather the CCTV should supplement the already established security in place. Extreme care and caution should be used when sending a child off from the center and care should be taken to see that the child leaves with an established and known caregiver or relative. In case the staff suspects anything out of the ordinary, contact must be established with the parents or caregivers of the child in every doubtful circumstance. An other thing is that the persons monitoring the CCTV cameras must be alert and vigilant at all times. There should be proper shifts established and more than one person monitoring at one time, depending on the size of the center. A plan should be in place as to what to do in case of suspicious activity.

Information Assurance Essay Example for Free

Information Assurance Essay Information Assurance (IA) can be referred to as the process that involves in the management of perils that are closely related to the usage, processing, storage and electronic transfers of information. This field has been birthed by information security, a field in computer security. Information Assurance is aimed at availability, authentication, non-repudiation, integrity and confidentiality of information and information systems thus serving as a defense and protection turf for electronic information. The process of Information Assurance commences with the act of specifying and classifying the assets of the information to be protected. This process of information specification and classification is done objectively taking into contemplation the nature, source and the purpose of the information in focus. This is followed by risk assessment that is done by Information Assurance practitioner who has to put into consideration the likelihood and the impact of the undesired actions that may negatively affect the disclosure of the information in storage to unauthorized individuals. It is at this stage that the both qualitative and the quantitative value of the risk in relation to the current situation and predictable hazard is determined. Moreover, the IA practitioner develops a risk management plan that puts forward the countermeasures that can probably mitigate, accept, eliminate or transfer the risks. The plans also puts into consideration the detection, prevention and response towards the emergent or prospective perils (Qian, Tipper, Krishnamurthy, 2008). During the plan development, various frame works can be employed such as ISO 17799, PCIDSS, ISO/IEC 27002 or CobiT. Procedures and policies such as frequent data and information backups and configuration hardening, installation of anti-virus programs and firewalls are among the countermeasures that can be used. Other activities included as countermeasures are trainings and the restructuring of the computer network systems which put in place computer emergence response team (CERT) or computer security incident response team (CSIRT). These countermeasures aim at managing, extenuating or totally eliminating the forthcoming risks in the most cost-effective manner. Later, implementation, testing and evaluation of the plan are undertaken through various designed methodologies such as formal audits. An overhaul, known as the service integrity service is put in place to protect the resources of the system from accidental unwarranted change, destruction or loss (Rogers, 2004). The system’s authenticator, also referred to as the system administrator, bears the entire authorization mandate and it is only through his certification and accreditation that a third party or any other person can access the information in store. In addition, liaison of the authenticator with the user representative and the program manager grants equal access rights to the protected information. The above three officials also have to decide agreeably on the most appropriate approaches to be instituted in an attempt to meet all the information security prerequisites. Once they have identified these methodologies, they also highlight on the security remedies that are satisfying. The authenticator’s leadership, these information system officials are bestowed with the obligation to oversee the activities of the information system security. So as to be able to access the information in the system, the authenticator has to issue a declaration indicating that approval has been granted to the any alleged declaration holder to operate the automated information system (AIS). Included in this declaration are the sets of standardized rules and regulations that must be adhered to the latter by all users having the right of access to the stored information. These prescriptions are aimed at safeguarding the information in store and the Automated Information System at large. Besides this declaration, data security can be ensured by the use of logins, passwords and digital certificates which are specifically issued to those users who are sanctioned (May, et al, 2004). The former is not so much campaigned for but instead, the latter and the use of biometric techniques such as voice and fingerprints as regarded as more secluded methods. Computer information attackers have devised ways to overwrite and also override these login passwords and as a result, this safety methodology is rarely relied upon. Once authentication has been granted, encryption of the sensitive data is done to avert it from eavesdropping and other related computer information crimes. During the process of authentication personal information is gathered and entered into the automated system which aids in the person’s identification. As a result, the party is issued with a credential. This credential validates the user identity claim when he/she is accessing the controlled and protected assets or information. In pursuit to ensure more safety over the stored information, multi-factor authentication has been employed. The multi-factor authentication process is subject to various environments and other technological rudiments and varies depending on these two aspects (Department of the Army, 2007). These techniques may include network architecture controls, remote network access, network sniffers and securing network ports. Failure to conform to or adopt any of the above mentioned authentication methodologies will expose the stored data to computer information systems defaulters who can craftily bypass weak technical controls. Consequently, they distort the information. This distortion may vary from mere acts such as modifying the main memory’s information after having read it to causing notable and probably irreversible behavior of the schedulers which are finally associated with the crashing of the entire information systems with large volumes data loss. In addition the can disable the firewall module packet filtering by transforming the image such that the agent’s in-memory store code starts working inappropriately (Larry, 2009). This may render the agent disabled from accessing the system. Once automated information attacker gains this unauthorized opportunity to access to the clients’ information he has the freedom to perform dynamic data modifications. Besides, he can access the system management memory (SMM) handler. The end result of this will be a system management random access memory (SMRAM) cache-based attack. Computer information criminals also alter the information system’s operating codes. Moreover, they can access client’s personal and confidential details such personal identification numbers and probably financial institution’s information thus ending up in a big loss in their finances. National and scientific databases have been prepared and managed by the governments of various states. Moreover, academic organizations and research institutions are also reliable. However, these stakeholders have to take keen attention during the auditing of the information, especially those received from partnerships with other organizations to avoid errors that may be disastrous in the future. In information assurance, the information flowing in the associated institutions should be confidential as earlier said and also the information’s integrity should be well safeguarded. In ensuring that the information meets these prerequisites, the British standards well implemented. Information assurance standards are also published a template in the IA website. Moreover, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) site contains these standards which are also coordinated with the MCNOSC. Therefore in conclusion, information assurance can be basically taken to mean the information operations (IO) aimed at information and information systems (IS) protection. This is achieved through the information assurance standards that see the achievement of information availability, its integrity, confidentiality, authentication and non-repudiation. The realization of these standards ensure the refurbishment of IS through the amalgamation of restoration, detection, fortification and reaction competences

Machiavellis Reputation in the Modern World Essays -- Biography Biogr

Machiavelli's Reputation in the Modern World Niccolà ² Machiavelli was known during much his life as a part of the republican government in Florence until 1512. At that time, the Medici family took over the city and ruled under a more monarchical system. From that point until his death in 1527, Machiavelli was always just on the outside of Florentine politics. He would occasionally get work from the Medici but his tasks were never as important as they had been under the republican government of the past. As he was trying to find his way back into a major role in Florentine government, Machiavelli wrote The Prince, a manual of sorts that explained how a monarch should rule his state and why. While Machiavelli had been a strong proponent of republican ideals in the past, in The Prince, his ideas are far from adhering to republicanism. The book seems to promote the ideal monarch as a cold, heartless person whose only goal in life should be to retain power, regardless of who or what he destroys. This includes killing enemie s of the state, personal enemies of the Prince, and even, in some cases, friends or family. While The Prince was not the first book of this kind, it was the first to suggest a government that rules with no regard for religion or morality. Machiavelli did not particularly pay heed to religious law in the way he lived his life, but he also did not particularly care for the Catholic Church of the time because of the lack of morality demonstrated by the Pope's and other supposedly "religious men's" actions at the time. There are other works that Machiavelli wrote both before and after The Prince that survive today, as well as letters he wrote to his friends that demonstrate a different set of ideals than th... ...: 1940-1960." An Evaluation of the Article: Why Looks Are the Last Bastion of Discrim

In today’s job market, there are many reasons an individual could be turned down for employment. According to Deborah Rhodes, author of â€Å"Why looks are the last bastion of discrimination†, appearance should not be one of them. Rhodes is a law professor at Stanford and holder of numerous titles for her outstanding work in legal matters. She is also the author and co-author of over 250 articles (Directory). In this article, she addresses an issue with profound impact on today’s society. She proposes that appearance discrimination should be included in anti-discrimination laws in addition to what is already accepted and legalized in today’s workplace. While it is a seemingly â€Å"silly† concern, it is actually quite valid. There has been many a concern over discrimination. That is, discrimination based on race, color, gender, and others of a similar nature in the work environment. Mainly, the article focuses on the injustices people have encountered in a work environment. Rhodes appeals to her audience as everyday â€Å"average† people who identify with the plight of another. Although she makes a compelling argument referencing studies and personal stories of people this has happened to, there are flaws in her argument that could discredit the validity of her reasoning. The logic in her article highly finds favor with the general working public. It is both consistent and appropriate. However, it is not complete, nor fully believable. I will discuss the following in the next paragraphs. Her use of research and anecdotes are mostly one-sided and while it brings valid points for the workers, fail to portray opposing views on the issue, that of the employer. She also neglects to further explore and compare the validity of this claim against wel... ...al." Fox News. 05 Apr. 2012. FOX News Network. 31 Mar. 2014 . "Prohibited Employment Policies/Practices." Washing Dishes Process Essay

Mrs. Morris English Comp 106 27 March 2013 Washing Dishes A nice meal was just enjoyed by the family. Everyone is sitting around the table with full stomachs not wanting to get up, but it has to be done. All the essential items are already out. Gloves, dish soap, dish strainer, a sponge and table full of dirty dishes. It's time to wash the dishes. Depending on what situation you're faced with determines weather or not you should wear rubber gloves to wash the dishes. If you are wearing a hoody or shirt with long sleeves now is the time to roll them up and put on an apron to minimize the chance of your clothes getting wet.As you take the dishes off of the table scrape all food items into the garbage can. Any napkins and straws should be thrown away also. This reduces the chance of your sink getting clogged. Set the dishes, cups, and silverware on the counter essay writer promo code. Fill the sink up with warm not scalding hot water. Add the dish soap of your choosing to get a mixture of suds within the water. Place the dishes into the sink gently, so there aren't any splashes. If there is enough time the dishes can soak to make washing them even easier.Pots and pans may also soak for easier washing. Take the sponge and get it wet. Grab the plates from the sink and begin to scrub off any food particles that may be stuck on. Rinse off the plates with warm water and make sure all the food and suds are off. Place in the dish strainer to dry. The cups need to have a little extra attention paid to them. Liquid can dry on the bottom and become stuck making it difficult to remove. If you can't reach your hand all the way inside of the cup use the handle of a fork to push the sponge in.Thoroughly rinse the cup inside and out with warm water. Place upside down in the dish strainer so the water will run out. Silverware is probably the most important to make sure it's clean. It goes in our mouths and serves our food. Wash one piece at a time to ensure maximum cleanliness. G rab the handle and scrub opposite end very well. Rinse with hot water. Dish strainers usually have a designated spot for the silverware to stand vertically; place them there. Pots and pans are the dirtiest and hardest to clean.Food gets baked on from cooking and depending how long they have been sitting; it can get really hard. Keep some warm soapy water inside of the pots and pans. Some force may be required to chisel some of the food particles off. Rinse with warm water and place upside down in the dish strainer. The dishes are done! Rinse out the sponge and squeeze out any excess water. Let all of the water out of the sink and wash down any remaining suds down the drain. The dishes can stay in the dish strainer and air dry or be dried with a towel and put away.

Effects Of Recycling Essays

Effects Of Recycling Essays Effects Of Recycling Essay Effects Of Recycling Essay Sing the consequence of scientific and technological innovations. the construct of waste to wealth is an environmental issue. 1. Climate Change When treating the original ( virgin ) stuff. the sum of energy expended in their extraction every bit good as transit normally involve firing fuels which beginnings of nursery gas emanations. Although production of goods through recycling requires usage of energy as good. the sum required is much less than what would be required for pull outing. fabrication and transporting the original stuffs. Besides. to a big extent. the procedure of waste to wealth reduces the production of big measures of nursery gases emitted from incinerators and landfills. Waste-to- wealth undertaking through recycling besides soaks up C dioxide from the air as it slows down the rate of deforestation which serves as C sink. 2. Water Pollution Recycling reduces H2O pollution in many ways. Many harmful waste and chemicals are dumped in organic structures of H2O because we produce a batch of rubbish. Recycling reduces this rubbish. Our dumping of this rubbish in the ocean affect many aquatic animate beings. About three hundred billion lbs of plastic is produced wholly in the universe. and merely a little part is recycled. while most of the staying are dumped in the ocean. Imagine that! Some of the harmful chemicals in our refuse from landfills could ooze into the land. and sooner or later acquire to the ocean and other H2O organic structures non burying our groundwater. This pollutes H2O. By recycling we produce less andreduce the sum of refuse green goods and chemicals dumped in our H2O organic structures. With recycling there isn’t the demand to do new merchandises. This means that the energy required to do these merchandises is conserved. This energy is generated from coal-burning powers Stationss and at that place . sulfur dioxide is emitted into the ambiance. Sulphur dioxide combines with H2O in the ambiance to bring forth sulfuric acid which condenses to the land in signifier of acerb rain and lowers the H2O pH. 3. Air Pollution With recycling. less sum of fossil fuel is required to bring forth and hence. less greenhouse gases are pumped into the ambiance. It besides reduces sum of emanations from incinerators every bit good as slows down the tree-felling procedure. With photosynthesis. the trees absorb the carbon-dioxide in the ambiance. The Downside In some instances nevertheless. recycling may be the beginning of air pollution as seen in Houston in 2013 where the metal recycling undertaking was seen to be let go ofing fume every bit good as cancer-causing chemicals into nearby vicinity. Besides the welding every bit good as cutting procedures of the metal was let go ofing metal compounds in the air which is non good for the people inhaling it as it is toxicant when combined in the blood. So. sometimes. recycling can do more air pollution. 4. Soil Pollution. Soil pollution is a signifier of land pollution. where the upper bed of the dirt is damaged. The inordinate usage of chemical fertilisers. dirt eroding caused by running H2O and other plague control measures leads to loss of fertile land for agribusiness. workss for forest screen and besides fresh fish spots for croping. With recycling. there is less waste put in landfills. Landfills are bad because there is normally a really high concentration of stuffs which are non biodegradable and these cause toxic chemicals to slowly leach into the dirt around. However. compositing of biodegradable stuff such as foliages and nutrient waste enrich the dirt as they introduce C. nitrogeb and other inorganic compounds that are good for some soil-resident beings and besides reduces the demand for unreal fertilisers. On the downside. paper recycling is really expensive and the procedure of bleaching is greatly practiced in this procedure in order to do the recycled paper every bit bright as original documents. The procedure of decoloring utilizations harmful chemicals which defeats the purpose of recycling Decision Recycling affects the environment in many ways. both positive and negative. Each one of us can hold an impact on bettering the environment and doing a witting attempt to cut down. reuse. and recycle in order to hold a positive consequence on the environment Mention hypertext transfer protocol: //www. conserve-energy-future. com/causes-effects-solutions-of-land-pollution. php Recycling and Climate Change hypertext transfer protocol: //www. plantops. umich. edu/grounds/recycle/climate_change. php ( Aug 22. 2014 ) Retrieved 2014.
